How to Identify If a Switch or Router Is Down
If multiple devices lose connectivity, a switch or router may be offline.
Steps to Check Network Hardware
1. Check Link Lights
a. Look for blinking lights on the switch/router.
2. Ping the Device
a. Use Command Prompt to test connectivity.
3. Try a Different Port
a. Move your cable to another port.
4. Report to IT
a. Include device location and symptoms.
