How Do I Point My Domain to Your Servers?
If you have registered your domain with a third-party provider like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, or Cloudflare, you will need to update your domain’s DNS settings to point it to our servers. Follow the instructions below based on your domain provider.
What You’ll Need:
- Access to your domain registrar account (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).
- The nameservers or A record/IP address provided by our team.
Option 1: Update Nameservers
If we’ve provided you with custom nameservers (e.g., ns1.yourhost.com
, ns2.yourhost.com
), use the following instructions:
GoDaddy
- Log in to your GoDaddy account.
- Go to My Products > Domains > Select your domain.
- Click DNS or Manage DNS.
- Scroll to Nameservers, click Change.
- Select Enter my own nameservers.
- Enter the nameservers we provided and click Save.
Namecheap
- Log in to your Namecheap dashboard.
- Click Domain List > Click Manage next to your domain.
- In the Nameservers section, choose Custom DNS.
- Enter the nameservers provided by us.
- Click the green checkmark to save.
Google Domains
- Go to https://domains.google.com.
- Select your domain.
- Click DNS in the left menu.
- Under Name servers, click Use custom name servers.
- Enter the custom nameservers and click Save.
Cloudflare
- Log in to your Cloudflare account.
- Select your domain.
- Go to DNS > Nameservers.
- Click Change and enter the nameservers provided.
Note: If you’re using Cloudflare’s proxy (orange cloud), ensure DNS-only mode is used during propagation to avoid issues.
Option 2: Update A Record
If you’re keeping DNS with your domain registrar and we’ve provided you with an IP address, use this method:
General Steps for All Providers
- Log in to your domain registrar.
- Navigate to DNS Settings or DNS Management.
- Locate the existing A record for
@
(your root domain). - Edit this record and change the IP address to the one provided.
- Save your changes.
To point your subdomain (e.g., www
) to the same server:
- Either set a CNAME record pointing to your root domain, or
- Add another A record for
www
using the same IP address.
DNS Propagation Time
Changes to DNS settings can take anywhere from a few minutes to up to 48 hours to fully propagate. During this time, your website may go offline temporarily or behave inconsistently.
